About
The house.
The family.
Our Story
A home that has always
been a home.
Malakkarethu House sits in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta District — a small temple town on the Pampa River in central Kerala. It is a family home managed by Adv. Jojy J Varghese under A Thundiath Enterprise.
The house offers six double ensuite bedrooms arranged across two floors, which can be configured as a four-bedroom unit, a two-bedroom unit, or individual rooms. Every room is fully furnished and comes with a private entrance, giving guests both comfort and privacy within a family setting.
The large garden opens to river views. The kitchen turns out proper Kerala food — not a tourist approximation of it. The family knows the town, the temple, the season of the boat races, and the back roads to Sabarimala.

The veranda — a favourite place to sit in the evenings.
How We Think About Hospitality
Three principles we don't compromise on.
01
Family, not franchise
Malakkarethu House is a family home first. You are a guest in a home that has been lived in for generations, not a customer in a property managed at a distance.
02
Kerala, undiluted
Aranmula sits outside the tourist belt. What you experience here — the temple rhythms, the river, the food — is what Kerala has always been.
03
Depth over breadth
We host a small number of guests at a time, so we can give proper attention to every stay. We would rather host fewer people well than many people adequately.
